Branding

My branding design is a thorough 4-step process, starting with learning about my client and ending with final deliverables and guidelines on using them correctly.

Step 1: Education

I start with an exploratory phase of talking with the client to understand their immediate and long-term goals, target market, industry, and competition. After getting information first-hand from the client, I conduct my own research to learn more about the topic.

Step 2: Exploration

Once I have all the necessary information, I move on to the thumbnail stage. I sketch out as many different ideas as possible without prejudice that an idea is too stupid or inappropriate. I'll spend quite a few days in this brainstorming phase to ensure that I have a good quantity of ideas.

Step 3: Refinement

Next, I select a handful of the thumbnails with the strongest potential and create larger, more detailed versions. I will refine the logo(s) until a final version is chosen.

Step 4: Final Creation

Finally, I'll create the logo in a vector format, allowing it to scale to any size and file type without distortion or loss in resolution. Then according to the scope, I will also create any accompanying graphic elements, including alternative logos, illustrations, Iconoflage, and other branding collateral. The final document I'll create is the brand guidelines containing instructions on using the new branding with consistency and cohesiveness so my client can use their new branding confidently.
